Mesh is building infrastructure for crypto payments and tokenized assets, enabling consumers to pay and be paid with any asset across hundreds of exchanges, wallets, and chains. The data generated from these transactions is now a core product—clients need conversion and settlement visibility, Finance requires auditable reporting, and internal teams increasingly rely on AI agents for data queries. In this Senior Data Engineer role, you will own the definition, instrumentation, validation, and delivery of data products across the organization. You'll work hands-on in SQL and Python, building the guardrails that enable AI agents to query data safely while maintaining finance-grade integrity. Key responsibilities include: - Own product and client analytics: Define core metrics (conversion rates, transaction success rates), maintain central Amplitude data with reusable templated charts, and build internal and external dashboards for clients. - Run experiment readouts: Baseline and read out A/B tests on the payment flow (UI variants, algorithms) and translate results into product decisions. - Prove migrations with data: Build apples-to-apples comparisons between platforms so decisions are evidence-driven rather than intuition-based. - Guard data integrity: Run and automate daily reconciliation triage and verification engines to ensure accuracy. - Shape instrumentation: Define backend event schemas and tracking plans, normalize fields for clean analytics. - Build finance-grade reporting: Deliver settlement and billing reporting on Microsoft Fabric/Power BI with parity validation, alerting, and self-serve access for Finance. - Make data AI-native: Build skills and tools for internal data agents, log and audit agent-generated SQL, and maintain accuracy of self-serve data channels. - Turn data into client products: Help shape self-serve reporting, reconciliation, and billing exports that clients pay for. You'll work in a fast-moving, high-growth environment backed by leading investors (SBI, Money Forward, Paradigm, Dragonfly, Galaxy, PayPal Ventures). The role offers competitive compensation, equity, unlimited PTO, professional development budget, and top-tier tools. Hybrid work expected at least 40% in-office (approximately two days per week) from San Francisco, New York, or Bangalore hubs. Requirements: - Expert in SQL (T-SQL/SQL Server and Spark SQL a plus) and solid Python skills - Hands-on with product analytics platforms (Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar), including event design and funnel/CVR modeling - Comfortable with experiment design and statistics for A/B readouts - Experienced building data quality checks, reconciliations, or backfills on production data - Habit of validating numbers against source systems before sharing - Clear communicator who can explain data issues to engineers, business leaders, and clients - Daily user of AI coding and analysis tools - ~3+ years in analytics or data engineering - ~5+ years with end-to-end ownership of a data domain
