Salary: USD 230,000 - 250,000 / annual
Medici Brands, parent company of David, Epogee, HallPass, and emerging brands, is seeking a Senior Counsel - Regulatory to serve as the company's senior strategic voice on regulatory matters domestically and internationally. You will report directly to the General Counsel and shape Medici's regulatory strategy across its diverse product portfolio.
In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for monitoring evolving legislation and emerging regulatory risks, supporting international expansion, ensuring regulatory compliance across the company's brands, and overseeing novel ingredient and product approvals. You will represent Medici before regulatory authorities including the FDA, bridge the gap between rapidly evolving regulations and high-stakes business growth, and work closely with Legal, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the company's regulatory strategy and representing Medici before external stakeholders and regulatory authorities (FDA, etc.) to defend company policies and support domestic and international product expansion
- Proactively monitoring shifts in the regulatory landscape, providing strategic frameworks for their impact, and developing formal action plans to meet compliance deadlines
- Interpreting new regulations, guidance documents, and enforcement trends, translating them into strategic recommendations for appropriate teams
- Ensuring seamless communication and alignment across functional departments on all regulatory matters
- Supporting the marketing team on ad review and product claims substantiation
- Supporting the regulatory team on product packaging review
- Partnering with the General Counsel on regulatory matters arising in litigation, M&A due diligence, commercial contracts, and related areas
- Keeping senior leadership informed through regular briefings on legislative and regulatory trends, proposals, and enforcement actions

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree minimum; degrees in nutrition, food science, or related fields are a plus
- JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice in New York required
- 5+ years of experience with FDA compliance work, with strong knowledge of food regulations, and a mix of firm and in-house experience
- Deep knowledge of evolving political and regulatory trends in the food industry
- Demonstrated ability to apply regulatory knowledge both strategically and operationally to expansion projects and marketed product regulatory issues
- Expertise in independently monitoring and communicating on emerging legislation
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated grace and even temperament under pressure
- High level of professional and personal integrity
