Saronic Technologies, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Austin, is developing autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense. The company is seeking a Senior Counsel to lead litigation and regulatory work, partnering closely with the Head of Regulatory & Litigation, General Counsel, and government affairs teams.
This role combines litigation strategy, regulatory engagement, and executive advisory responsibilities. You will develop and drive strategy on consequential litigation matters, including affirmative challenges and constitutional/administrative law cases from initial assessment through appeal. You will draft and oversee key filings (complaints, motions, discovery), manage outside counsel, lead internal fact development, and coordinate amicus and coalition strategy.
On the regulatory side, you will partner on national and international regulatory matters affecting the company, including military acquisition regulation, export controls, and national security issues. You will engage with agencies, develop comments and advocacy strategies, advise senior leadership on legislative and regulatory risks, and prepare briefing materials for government officials.
You will also serve as cross-functional counsel, advising business leaders on the intersection of law, policy, and strategy, and help build the legal infrastructure of a fast-scaling defense technology company.
This is not a traditional in-house role—it requires sharp legal judgment, ability to build case strategy from the ground up, fluency with federal decision-makers, and the discipline to manage multiple high-stakes matters in parallel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of legal experience in litigation and regulatory matters (government, in-house, or top-tier law firm)
- Juris Doctor and active bar membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- Track record of building and executing strategy in high-stakes federal litigation (constitutional, administrative, or complex commercial matters)
- Experience advising senior executives or government officials on legal, regulatory, and policy risk
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with national security, defense, or law enforcement matters
- Excellent written and oral advocacy; ability to operate with senior policymakers and executives with equal credibility
- Sound judgment, low ego, high ownership, and temperament to thrive in a fast-moving, mission-driven company
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior executive branch, congressional, military, or national security experience
- Experience with environmental, permitting, or land-use matters for large-scale industrial or infrastructure facilities
- Experience with defense acquisition, export controls, or CFIUS
- Familiarity with autonomous systems, AI, dual-use technology, or defense innovation
- Current or prior U.S. security clearance (Secret or higher); TS/SCI eligibility strongly preferred
