Niantic Spatial is building the future of physical AI, powered by a proprietary database of over 30 billion posed images. The company's mapping technology enables spatial intelligence for robotics, public sector, and energy/industrial markets. You'll join the Embodied AI team as a Senior Computer Vision Engineer, working across research, engineering, product, and customer teams to turn advances in 3D reconstruction and spatial perception into reliable production capabilities. In this hands-on role, you'll productionize computer vision and 3D reconstruction capabilities by turning research prototypes into reliable pipeline components and services that work across varied customer data and environments. You'll own end-to-end output quality, ensuring reconstructed environments are geometrically coherent, correctly scaled, and usable by downstream simulation and embodied AI systems. A core focus is making systems robust to real-world conditions—diagnosing failures caused by capture quality, scene complexity, calibration issues, and other edge cases that prototypes often overlook. You'll improve performance, throughput, and cost by profiling and optimizing GPU and distributed workloads. You'll build evaluation and quality infrastructure including datasets, regression tests, quality gates, and benchmarking tools. You'll shape the next generation of capabilities by bringing production and customer constraints into research planning, and work across product boundaries to partner with embodied AI teams on customer requirements and workflows. You'll help define the interfaces and representations that allow reconstructed environments to move reliably into customer applications. The role emphasizes pragmatism, systems thinking, and shipping. You understand that production quality includes reliability, observability, cost, latency, maintainability, and usability—not just algorithmic accuracy. You're comfortable with ambiguity and can make progress when problems, data, and requirements are still evolving. REQUIREMENTS: - Significant experience building and operating production computer vision, machine learning, graphics, or data-processing systems - Hands-on experience with 3D reconstruction, photogrammetry, structure from motion, SLAM, mapping, scene understanding, computer graphics, or related field - Experience delivering reliable computer vision or 3D systems used by other teams or customers - Practical command of 3D and spatial data, including geometry, camera models, coordinate frames, calibration, and metric scale - Strong Python skills, with ability to work in C++ or other performance-oriented environments when needed - Experience with cloud infrastructure, GPU workloads, distributed processing, or large-scale data pipelines - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with Gaussian splatting, neural rendering, meshing, or related reconstruction methods - Built evaluation or benchmarking infrastructure for perception or reconstruction systems - Experience with robotics, simulation, or embodied AI applications - Experience optimizing large-scale GPU workloads for cost, throughput, or latency
