Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Integrity & Compliance function is scaling to support responsible growth as products reach more users, enterprises, and governments. As Senior Compliance Program Manager for Political Law, you will own and build Anthropic's political law compliance program end-to-end. This includes designing and operating the infrastructure for the corporate PAC, corporate political giving, state and local pay-to-play preclearance, gift and ethics rules governing interactions with public officials, and potentially lobbying registration and reporting oversight. You will be the day-to-day compliance partner to the Policy and Government Affairs teams, working closely with Policy Legal (who own substantive legal advice) and the broader Corporate Compliance team on anti-corruption matters. You'll design workflows, registers, and controls; execute work in-house where appropriate; and direct and quality-check outside political law counsel and compliance vendors. Key responsibilities include: - Own the political contributions preclearance program: intake, covered-persons register, jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction pay-to-play screening, recordkeeping, and reconciliation - Support corporate PAC compliance operations: restricted-class eligibility controls, solicitation review, FEC reporting oversight, and reconciliations - Maintain corporate political giving log and vetting workflow for candidate, committee, 527, and c4 contributions; integrate pay-to-play triggers into public-sector contract intake - Support or oversee lobbying compliance: consolidated view of registrations, deadlines, filing status, and coordination with outside filing firms - Manage outside political law counsel and compliance vendors: scoping, inputs, quality, timeliness, budget, and recommendations on in-house versus outsourced work - Run gifts and hospitality review for events and interactions involving public officials, applying federal, state, and local rules - Review and disposition conflicts of interest, outside business activity, and gifts/hospitality matters; maintain post-government-employment and recusal trackers - Build training, guidance, and intake documentation for Policy, GTM, and leadership; keep policies current - Serve as product owner for AI-assisted intake, screening, and case-management workflows: define requirements, run testing, decide automation levels, report metrics - Spot legal questions early and route to Policy Legal or outside counsel with facts assembled; keep stakeholders calibrated on risk Because the team runs lean, you may also support broader corporate compliance workstreams (gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest, outside business activities) and help design AI-assisted workflows that enable a small team to cover large surface area. This is a builder's role requiring hands-on program ownership, comfort doing the work directly and managing outside firms, and the ability to turn fifty-state complexity into simple, usable processes. REQUIREMENTS: - Hands-on ownership of political law compliance programs (corporate PAC, campaign finance, pay-to-play preclearance, covered-persons tracking, lobbying registration/reporting, government gift and ethics rules) or closely comparable multi-jurisdiction regulatory program - Track record building a program (not just operating one): designing preclearance/disclosure workflows, registers, filing calendars, and controls from scratch or through major redesign - Fluent enough to do the work directly and experienced enough to manage outside counsel and compliance vendors: scoping, feeding inputs, checking quality, holding deadlines - Working fluency in federal framework (FECA/FEC, LDA/HLOGA, House and Senate gift rules) and understanding of state and local variation; knows when a question is a legal call - Strong project management and cross-functional execution with Policy/Government Affairs, Legal, Finance, and executive stakeholders; clear, brief, business-usable writing - Sound judgment and discretion handling politically and personally sensitive information PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - 7+ years of compliance program management experience - Experience in corporate government affairs compliance function, political law practice, compliance vendor, or financial-services pay-to-play program (SEC Rule 206(4)-5, MSRB G-37, CFTC) - Range across broader corporate compliance portfolio (gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest, outside activities, anti-corruption) with appetite to learn new areas - Exposure to non-US lobbying transparency regimes (EU Transparency Register, German Lobby register, Irish Regulation of Lobbying Act, UK) - Hands-on with compliance tooling (case management, GRC, disclosure platforms, workflow automation) and interest in using AI to improve compliance work - Experience at high-growth or technology company, or operating lean without large-team infrastructure - Relevant certification (e.g., CCEP) or paralegal/JD background is a plus, not required; this is a program role, not a counsel role Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a field relevant to the role.
