Pie Insurance is transforming commercial insurance for small businesses through technology. As a Senior Claims Adjuster for Workers Compensation, you will independently manage the full lifecycle of workers' compensation claims—from setup through closure—with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experience and achieving favorable outcomes.
You will handle high-dollar, high-exposure, and complex claims with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough 3-point contact investigations, making timely and accurate compensability decisions within statutory requirements, setting and adjusting reserves within authority limits, and administering statutory medical and indemnity benefits. You will work with defense counsel to manage litigation, control legal costs, and identify early settlement opportunities.
Beyond claims technical management, you will serve as a primary point of contact for partner agents and customers, providing claim guidance, status updates, coverage verification, and loss run reports. You will advocate for Pie's claims customer experience, continuously improve operations, and mentor junior adjusters.
Required qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of workers' compensation claims adjusting experience (carrier background preferred), active licensing in applicable states, and advanced knowledge of jurisdictional regulatory and statutory requirements, CMS/MSA requirements, and claim adjudication/medical/litigation management. Preferred experience includes familiarity with FL, GA, NC, SC, TN, and AL jurisdictions (with emphasis on NC, TN, AL). You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to analyze multiple data points to make sound claim decisions that mitigate exposure while achieving optimal outcomes. Experience with G-Suite and Slack is preferred.
