CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. The Skylark product line focuses on rapid design, build, and test of cutting-edge active phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications, spanning high-power ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions. As a Senior CAD Designer, you will provide comprehensive CAD drawing support throughout the product development process, primarily using SolidWorks. Your responsibilities include generating and modifying product models, drawings, and technical documentation; identifying and correcting design issues; managing mechanical digital data files and drawings; preparing and incorporating engineering change orders; and inputting data into the Product Data Management tool (SolidWorks PDM). You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment where team members wear multiple hats. The role involves collaboration with the mechanical engineering team, multitasking between library management, CAD design, review, and related tasks. You will ensure all design documentation complies with program requirements, organizational processes, and industry standards, preparing accurate drawings with proper tolerances, dimensions, and instructions. REQUIREMENTS: - Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar field, OR 4+ years of additional relevant experience if no degree - Minimum 5 years of experience as a CAD Drafter - Proficiency or expert knowledge in CAD tools; SolidWorks experience preferred - Experience generating and/or modifying product models, drawings, and documentation - Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and product specifications - Comfortable with collaboration tools (MS Teams, Confluence, Jira) - Ability to work well under deadlines - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Excellent written and verbal communication skills PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: - Strong mechanical proficiency and understanding of manufacturing (CNC, 3D printing) and mechanical assembly techniques - Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.100 (Engineering Drawing Practices) - Experience supporting design of electronic packages, ground structures, mechanisms, and/or composite structures - Aerospace or automotive electronics design experience NOTE: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State due to government space technology export regulations.
