Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Senior BOM Sourcing Engineer to join the Rocket Motor Systems team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role drives strategic supply network development and cost management across Anduril's product hardware lifecycles through cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams. Key responsibilities include conducting supplier selection leveraging an approved supplier list; partnering with strategic suppliers on concept scoping, feature trade-offs, should-cost modeling, and joint design development; developing and consolidating manufacturing BOMs to support internal and supplier production ramps; managing CAPEX throughout new product introduction; conducting value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility; completing BOM risk assessments with alternate component sourcing; ensuring component qualifications ahead of production; optimizing commonality and rationalizing components/suppliers; and leading cost engineering activities to converge bottom-up cost curves to product targets while maximizing total cost of ownership across the product lifecycle. The role also involves managing ad-hoc cost issues such as tariffs, import/export costs, and cost inflation. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field, 5+ years of sourcing engineering, supplier engagement/development, or design experience with electronics and/or mechanical devices, domain expertise in value/procurement engineering or TCO work at component and product levels, and ability to travel up to 25% and relocate to Huntsville if not already local. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree or advanced technical degree, deeper experience in design/development of electronics/mechanical devices, advanced sourcing activities including commodity/sourcing management, supplier development, early supplier engagement, experience in highly regulatory environments (preferably energetics and solid rocket motor production), familiarity with high-mix low-volume product development, exposure to fast-paced startup environments, and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
