You will lead biofuels market research and analytics, building and maintaining comprehensive supply & demand balances and price forecasts across renewable diesel, biodiesel, ethanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and key agricultural feedstocks. Your work will bridge Kpler's agricultural and energy intelligence desks, linking oilseeds, vegetable oils, and grains analysis with oil and middle distillates teams to capture the full biofuels value chain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, refine, and update S&D models and price forecasts for biofuels and feedstocks
- Analyze policy and regulatory drivers including the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS/RINs), state low-carbon fuel standards (LCFS), federal clean fuel producer credits, crush economics, and trade dynamics
- Produce timely written commentary, reports, and house views representing Kpler's US market perspective
- Present findings in client meetings, webinars, industry conferences, and media outlets
- Partner with data engineering and product teams to scope, prioritize, and validate data scrapers and automated pipelines powering Kpler's S&D product
- Drive commercial impact by providing analytical clarity that builds client trust and supports product retention
You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with access to Kpler's proprietary data infrastructure and global research network.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in commodity market research and analytics, with direct experience analyzing US biofuel and feedstock fundamentals
- Strong domain knowledge of the US biofuels policy stack (RFS/RIN, LCFS, clean fuel producer credits) and feedstock dynamics across used cooking oil (UCO), tallow, and the soybean complex
- Proven track record of building, maintaining, and refining quantitative S&D balances and price forecasting models
- Advanced Excel skills with ability to extract meaningful insights and detect market trends from market data
- Solid grasp of how agricultural supply chains and energy market economics interact to drive biofuel margins
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Energy, Agricultural Science, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Experience working with large datasets using SQL, Python, or VBA
- Established network of US biofuel, energy, or agricultural market contacts
- Experience working in fast-paced, global, or cross-functional research environments
