At-Bay is a cybersecurity-focused insurance company that combines insurance expertise with deep security knowledge to better understand and manage digital risk. The company operates globally with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, Atlanta, and Tel Aviv.
The BI team is central to At-Bay's decision-making, owning the data warehouse and analytical models that power underwriting, pricing, claims, finance, sales, and product analytics. The team is increasingly building data foundations for AI agents and self-serve analytics across the organization.
As a Senior BI Engineer, you will design and build data models and pipelines that transform raw events from internal platforms and partner systems into trusted, well-documented data assets. You will work closely with analysts, actuaries, product managers, and engineers to shape how the company leverages modern tooling—including AI—to deliver data faster and more reliably.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and own dimensional and domain data models in Snowflake that serve as the single source of truth for key metrics
- Develop incremental, tested, and version-controlled transformations using dbt, Python, and Airflow, ingesting data from internal services, SaaS tools, and third-party APIs
- Implement data quality tests, data contracts, monitoring, and alerting to ensure stakeholders can trust the numbers
- Optimize query performance and warehouse costs as data volumes grow
- Build a well-defined semantic/metrics layer and clean, documented data that analysts, BI tools, and LLM-based agents can query safely
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot) to accelerate development and help the team adopt best practices
- Drive technical POCs, migrations, and architecture decisions; raise the bar through code reviews and mentoring
- Translate business questions from underwriting, finance, product, and leadership into scalable data solutions
Tech stack: Snowflake, dbt, Python, Airflow, PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS, Git/GitHub Actions, and AI-assisted development tools.
Location: Tel Aviv, Israel (hybrid, 3 days in office). The office is centrally located near the train station and main bus stops.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience as a BI Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or Data Engineer
- Expert SQL skills, including reading query plans and optimizing performance at scale
- Strong experience in data warehouse design and dimensional modeling (Star schemas, SCDs, incremental loads)
- Experience with Snowflake (performance tuning, cost management, RBAC)
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or similar
- Hands-on production experience with dbt (models, tests, macros, documentation)
- Proficiency in Python for data pipelines, automation, and integrations
- Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD for data
- Strong ownership mindset—ability to take projects from ambiguous requirements to production
- Excellent communication skills in English and Hebrew; ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
ADVANTAGES:
- Experience with semantic layers/metrics stores and BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma)
- Experience with data observability and quality tooling
- Experience building data foundations for LLMs or AI agents (text-to-SQL, MCP, RAG over structured data)
- Background in insurance, fintech, or cybersecurity data
- B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering & Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
