Connecteam is the leading platform for managing deskless teams, trusted by over 80,000 businesses worldwide. The company serves real operators running shifts, jobs, and teams across stores and sites, consolidating daily operations and team communication into one intuitive app covering hiring, scheduling, training, tasks, and coordination. Backed by $220M+ from Insight Partners, Stripes, and Tiger Global, Connecteam is rapidly expanding globally.
You will be a key player in building high-scale data platforms and products for business teams. The role involves working with large datasets and scalable systems, developing internal tools to enable data-driven decision-making across the company. The team builds backend systems and data infrastructure that the rest of the company relies on: internal products, APIs, event pipelines, and integrations with external tools. The data comes from the full product at the volume of over 1.7 million daily active users. Features are multi-system—an API, a pipeline, and often LLM-backed flows that must stay correct in production.
Key responsibilities include developing internal tools and products for teams across Connecteam; building and maintaining services and APIs that support complex, multi-step workflows; operating in a real-time, event-driven environment at high volume; creating and managing data pipelines with checks to keep data trustworthy; designing and shipping LLM and agent features including tool use, prompts, evaluation, and managing cost, latency, and quality tradeoffs; using coding agents as part of normal delivery and raising the quality of their output; taking ownership of multiple systems and products; working in a multi-cloud environment (Azure/GCP/AWS); integrating third-party tools with the platform; and translating ambiguous business requirements into technical plans and leading them through to production.
Tech stack includes Python, FastAPI, Tornado, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, BigQuery, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, Airflow, Airbyte, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, React, TypeScript, and LLM/agent frameworks.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 8 years as a Backend Engineer
• Proficiency in Python: at least 8 years, or deep backend experience with fast ramp onto Python
• Proven experience writing and maintaining services and REST APIs in production at scale where volume and failure handling matter
• Strong proficiency in SQL
• Hands-on experience with event-driven development
• Daily use of LLMs and coding agents in your build process
• Familiarity with big data and high-velocity/volume systems (plus)
• Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP, AWS)
