Tilt is a fintech company building mobile-first credit products powered by machine learning. NIRA, Tilt's consumer credit platform for Middle India, serves approximately 200 million underserved people across 5,000+ cities, processing 15,000+ loan applications daily.
As a Senior Backend Engineer at NIRA, you will shape the technical strategy for infrastructure and product roadmap while working closely with the local NIRA engineering team and the broader APAC engineering organization. This is an individual contributor role with significant scope and influence over technical direction.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with NIRA and APAC engineering teams to increase platform scalability and handle growing transaction volume
- Expand the platform to support multiple financial products and underlying instruments
- Drive iterations on credit policy and improve credit decision systems
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, credit/finance, compliance, support, and analytics teams
- Own technical solutions end-to-end with a product engineer mentality
You'll work in a distributed, virtual-first environment across 14 countries and 12 time zones. REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong Java experience (ideally .NET as well)
- Demonstrated experience in AWS-native environments, including DynamoDB, Athena, and Lambda
- Proven track record working on scaled technical solutions and platform scalability projects
- Strong communication skills with ability to articulate technical solutions and collaborate globally
- Product engineer mentality with end-to-end ownership mindset
