Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing remote cybersecurity company that enables organizations to proactively find, fix, and verify exploitable attack vectors before criminals exploit them. The flagship NodeZero platform delivers production-safe autonomous pentests and assessment operations that scale across internal, external, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments. The company was founded by a fusion of former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers, and cybersecurity practitioners.
You will join the Growth & MSSP team, which owns the foundational control plane governing customer access, entitlements, and administration across NodeZero. This team's work spans licensing and entitlements, admin experience, provisioning, notifications, MSP/MSSP capabilities, and auditability. These systems directly shape how customers, administrators, and service providers experience the platform.
As a senior individual contributor, you will lead through technical judgment and careful system design, owning significant pieces of platform infrastructure while balancing feature delivery with long-term platform investment and production health.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement backend services that enforce licensing, entitlements, feature access, usage limits, and packaging rules consistently across NodeZero's product, APIs, and partner workflows
- Build and evolve provisioning and onboarding workflows for reliable account setup and customer activation
- Develop admin experience infrastructure including user access controls, RBAC/authorization patterns, and multi-tenant administration capabilities
- Build MSP/MSSP capabilities for asset allocation, sub-client management, usage visibility, and reporting at scale
- Implement audit logging and event history systems for compliance and customer trust
- Develop the notifications platform for usage warnings, alerts, and communications
- Operate these services in production, contributing to monitoring, runbooks, incident response, and support workflows
- Contribute production code that sets standards for design quality, test coverage, observability, and operational rigor
- Collaborate with adjacent teams to ensure consistent application of entitlement and access rules
You should bring strong ownership and self-direction, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail, strong technical documentation ability, and effective cross-functional communication. Interest in mentoring junior and mid-level engineers is valued.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience using modern object-oriented or functional languages (Python, Go, TypeScript, Java, Scala, C++, etc.)
- Experience building production applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) using Docker and Kubernetes
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms with strong tenant isolation, access controls, and account hierarchy
- Hands-on experience with RBAC, authorization, authentication, or SSO systems at scale
- Experience with licensing, subscription, entitlement, usage metering, or billing-adjacent systems
- Experience designing and building audit log or event history systems with compliance requirements
- Familiarity with provisioning and feature-access patterns, auto-provisioning, and feature flags
- Experience building admin consoles or customer self-service workflows with multi-org account management
- Experience with MSP, MSSP, or multi-tenant partner models
- Experience with notifications infrastructure and delivery reliability
- Production reliability experience: observability tooling, on-call ownership, runbooks, and incident response
- Expert proficiency in SQL and relational database architectures (PostgreSQL) with complex data models
