PhotoRoom is a leading visual solution for e-commerce, founded in 2019 and part of Y Combinator's 2020 cohort. The company has raised Series B funding, reached 300+ million users worldwide, and processes over 5 billion images annually. PhotoRoom serves both small businesses and major enterprises (Amazon, DoorDash, Decathlon) through mobile apps, web platforms, and APIs.
You will own the pricing system for all PhotoRoom apps (iOS, Android, Web, API) serving millions of users. This is an end-to-end ownership role: you'll architect and code features, monitor performance using Datadog, and iterate rapidly based on user feedback (backend updates multiple times per week).
Key responsibilities:
- Own delivery and architecture of the pricing system across all product platforms
- Optimize existing endpoints to reduce latency and support continued scaling
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, frontend engineers) to design seamless user experiences
- Follow product usage metrics and make data-driven technical and product decisions
- Ensure system reliability and performance at scale
You'll work in a hybrid environment in Paris (from the 9th) with a team of 100+ builders focused on craft, innovation, and collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of backend development experience with Django and Django Rest Framework
- Experience working with relational databases at scale: schema design, Django query optimization, zero-downtime migrations
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases larger than 100 GB
- Experience scaling SaaS and subscription management systems (Stripe, RevenueCat)
- Experience designing API endpoints in collaboration with frontend engineers, including OpenAPI specs and developer documentation
- Pragmatic approach: favor speed of iteration and leverage existing frameworks/libraries over reinventing
- Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and comfort making product and technical decisions
- Fluent in English (French not required)
Note: The posting encourages applications even if you don't meet every point.
