Impulse is seeking a Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and qualify custom circuit boards and avionics devices for spacecraft. In this role, you will take ownership of hardware from initial design through board bring-up, lab debugging, qualification testing, and flight operations.
You will work cross-functionally with software engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC (guidance, navigation, and control) engineers, and manufacturing teams to develop spacecraft electronics that meet mission-critical requirements. Your responsibilities include designing circuit boards with emphasis on analog, digital, or control electronics; performing rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems; defining hardware interfaces and verifying requirements; and establishing high technical standards across your designs.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop circuit boards for spacecraft, with emphasis on analog, digital, or control electronics
- Perform rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems
- Act as the Responsible Engineering authority for your hardware, owning designs from board bring-up and debugging through qualification and flight operations
- Define hardware interfaces and verify requirements
- Establish and maintain high technical standards
- Partner with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in electronic component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout
- 5+ years of experience in mixed-signal and analog circuit design, including analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, opamps, filtering, and signal integrity
- 3+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale, and resolve concerns
