Dominion Dynamics is seeking a Senior Airframe Stress Engineer to lead structural and systems analyses from concept through defence-program certification. You will own major structural components, architectures, and interfaces on a platform where design decisions made now directly impact long-term costs and manufacturability.
In this role, you'll perform sizing analyses across configurations and trade studies for primary and secondary structures, working with metallic and composite constructions. You'll be instrumental in building Dominion Dynamics' stress analysis tools, methodologies library, and engineering standards as the structures function scales. You'll lead design reviews, improve design processes, and represent structural stress engineering in program reviews, customer interactions, and supplier engagements.
Unlike mature aerospace OEMs with established standards, you'll help set those standards while doing the design work itself. You'll work daily with Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Avionics, and Systems Engineering to keep the vehicle design converging across disciplines. The environment emphasizes rapid iteration—design decisions move from CAD to analysis to hardware quickly, with direct feedback loops rather than delayed review cycles.
Dominion Dynamics is a Canadian defence technology company building real capability for the Canadian Armed Forces and allies. The company operates with high trust, short feedback loops, and systems already fielded with operators. You'll have direct access to leadership and equity participation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years in aerospace structural stress at an OEM or equivalent, with experience in Part 23/25/27 certification programs
- Strong experience and day-to-day use of simulation tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Altair) and proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE, or NX)
- Strong background in metallic and composite materials and design-for-manufacturing trade-offs
- Coding skills for engineering tools (Python preferred)
- Comfortable building process and standards, not just working inside them
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in aerospace startup or advanced air mobility program
- Published technical work or patents in structural or aerospace design
- Knowledge of FAA/TCCA/EASA/Defense regulations beyond home certification basis
- Test support from components to full-scale structures
- Flight test or hardware integration experience
- Manufacturing support, in-service, or flight support experience
- No defence background required; the company welcomes candidates who don't tick every box
