In this Senior AFC Operations Specialist role, you will be the operational backbone of anti-financial crime (AFC) efforts, protecting lemon.markets, its partners, and customers from financial crime risks. Sitting within the Customer Lifecycle Domain, you will report to the Team Lead and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and the Second Line of Defence to ensure AFC operations are effective, scalable, and audit-ready. Key responsibilities include: - Owning day-to-day AFC operations: transaction monitoring, customer screening, Source of Wealth reviews, investigations, and regulatory information requests - Investigating suspicious customer activity and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in collaboration with the MLRO and compliance teams - Designing and improving AFC controls, workflows, and documentation across the customer lifecycle - Driving process optimization and automation projects to reduce manual effort and improve control effectiveness - Acting as a trusted AFC subject-matter expert across Product, Engineering, Operations, Banking, and Investing domains - Maintaining audit-ready documentation for cases, processes, and decisions You bring substantial hands-on AFC operations experience in financial services, including investigations, operational controls, and risk-based decision-making. You have practical experience preparing and submitting SARs via goAML and understand suspicious activity handling in operational environments. You are comfortable improving, automating, and scaling AFC processes and contributing to cross-functional projects. You possess deep knowledge of German and European AML requirements and regulatory expectations. Language fluency is essential: C2 German and C1 English. You work with an ownership-driven mindset, bring structure to ambiguity, and balance expertise with humility in a fast-changing regulatory landscape.
