Primer is a growing network of K–8 schools restoring the foundations of American education through close-knit learning environments and skilled educators. The company is seeking a Senior Accountant to help lead the Finance department's evolution as the network expands across multiple states using PrimerOS.
In this hands-on role, you will own revenue recognition across multiple revenue streams (state scholarship/agency, tuition, aftercare, credits) under ASC 606, including managing deferred revenue schedules that tie to the general ledger. You will lead monthly consolidations across state entities into a corporate roll-up, performing flux analysis, inter-company eliminations, and tie-outs. You'll review accounts payable work including card and bill coding, vendor reconciliations, and month-end accruals prepared by the broader team.
You'll run point on finance projects such as new entity/campus setup, process builds, and ad hoc analysis for the Controller and CFO. The role is deeply integrated with modern finance tools: you'll work daily in Cowork (Claude) alongside NetSuite, Ramp, and Google Sheets, pulling data, building tie-outs, and automating close processes. The team has been closing books with AI assistance for months.
You will report to the Controller and work closely with the CFO in a mission-first organization that prioritizes mission execution.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred (not mandatory)

- Real ASC 606 and multi-entity consolidation experience; must have closed multi-state or multi-entity books
- NetSuite (or similar ERP) and advanced Excel/Sheets fluency
- AI-forward mindset: comfort with process-building, AI utilization for analysis, and creating processes and automation
