SafelyYou is an AI-driven company transforming senior living through intelligent fall detection, remote clinical expertise, and hardware solutions. Founded from UC Berkeley's AI Research Lab, the company addresses critical challenges in elder care including resident safety, staffing efficiency, and operational costs. As Security Operations Engineer, you will be a high-level individual contributor and technical anchor within the Security Operations function of the Enterprise IT department. This newly established role drives systemic maturity across SafelyYou's infrastructure, owning technical execution, systems hardening, and lifecycle management of internal platforms. You will operate primarily within AWS cloud environments and Google Workspace, leveraging modern toolchains including infrastructure-as-code, identity and access management, continuous compliance automation, and observability stacks for logging and monitoring. Key responsibilities include: leading security project management for third-party assessments and vulnerability testing; designing and implementing SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) capabilities with robust log analysis pipelines; integrating AI and automation to streamline incident detection and reduce false positives; developing threat intelligence processes and keeping teams informed of emerging security trends; owning secure provisioning and hardening of new infrastructure and applications; creating documentation and runbooks for seamless handover to support teams; managing systems engineering and application onboarding; collaborating cross-functionally with IT Support on incident response; and triaging security-related DevOps escalations to reduce unpredictable inbound load. Success is measured by streamlined workflows enabling proactive security operations, successful SIEM deployment with clear logging standards reducing time-to-detection, high-quality documentation ensuring zero friction during system handovers, timely execution of compliance initiatives, and reduced volume of security-driven tickets landing on DevOps. The ideal candidate brings 6–8 years of Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, or IT Operations experience with a proven track record transitioning into security operations, combined with SIEM and telemetry expertise.
