Salary: USD 125,000 - 160,000 / annual
Knox Systems operates the largest Federal & DoD managed cloud, building and securing cloud and AI environments for the U.S. government's most critical missions in national security, public safety, and essential services. This Security Operations Analyst role is a senior individual contributor position leading the evening shift (14:00–22:00) as the senior person on the floor.
You will own escalation criteria decisions, determining what requires manager attention versus what the team handles independently. You'll conduct root cause analysis on contained incidents, update runbooks to prevent recurrence, and maintain high standards for shift logs, handovers, and queue health across all shifts. A core responsibility is developing Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts, with their readiness for promotion directly tied to your performance. You'll represent the security operations team in incident reviews and FedRAMP evidence work.
Knox operates differently from typical companies: security and network teams work from the same queue, watching performance, availability, and security together. This integrated approach means you see the whole picture and problems don't sit with the wrong team while time passes.
You'll need five or more years in security operations, including time as a senior person on a floor. A track record of developing people—not just resolving incidents—is essential. Strong grounding in cloud security monitoring, detection engineering, and incident response is required. You must have the confidence to set standards and hold your team to them.
Knox will teach you how FedRAMP controls and evidence work within a federal authorization boundary, the specifics of their environment and customers, and how security and availability fit together. The role leads to NOSC Manager positions.
The company offers a fixed, published schedule with no rotating shifts, three consecutive days off weekly on four-day rotation schedules, covered certification costs, shift premiums on published rates, and transparent salary bands. Compensation is $125k–$160k with variable annual bonus, equity, and monthly premium payments. U.S. citizenship (sole citizenship only) is required due to federal government client work and compliance regulations. Candidates must pass a government background investigation.
