Salary: USD 75,000 - 85,000 / annual
Via is a mobility technology company partnering with 100+ cities and public transit agencies worldwide to deploy innovative transportation solutions. As Safety Operations Manager, you will lead all safety initiatives for driver operations in your market, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company standards while fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
You will oversee comprehensive driver safety programs, including designing and delivering training on defensive driving, wheelchair securement, passenger sensitivity, de-escalation, CPR/First Aid, and emergency procedures. Your responsibilities include conducting post-incident reviews, safety audits, and regular ride-alongs to evaluate driver performance and identify coaching opportunities. You'll monitor safety data trends, lead root cause analyses for accidents, and develop corrective action plans in collaboration with central operations.
As the primary safety lead, you'll support DOT compliance as the Designated Employer Representative (DER), maintaining accurate recordkeeping and managing testing/incident follow-up. You'll evaluate driver performance through skills assessments and feedback sessions, maintain training documentation and certifications, and assist with driver scheduling for training programs.
You'll serve as a visible leader across markets, partnering with operations, safety, and compliance teams to align local practices with company-wide goals. The role balances field work—including hands-on instruction and ride-alongs—with administrative and compliance tasks. You'll support reporting and communication between field teams and central operations, ensuring operational readiness and service quality standards.
