Tutor Intelligence is seeking a Robotics Maintenance & Field Service Technician II/III to join their operations team in Portland, OR. This role sits at the intersection of robotics, operations, manufacturing, and engineering, responsible for keeping autonomous robotic systems running across customer facilities throughout North America.
You will deploy new robotic systems at customer sites, including installation, commissioning, validation, and customer handoff. Core responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on autonomous robotic systems, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls, and networking-related issues, and executing repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and field modifications. You'll support customer ramp-up and operational readiness following deployment, work directly with customers to maximize uptime and reliability, and document failures and collect field data to support root cause investigations.
This position requires close partnership with Engineering to improve product reliability and serviceability, helping develop maintenance procedures, service standards, troubleshooting guides, and best practices. You'll also support product validation, pilot deployments, and new product introductions. The role requires approximately 75% travel throughout the United States, with most trips being short-duration service visits; technicians are generally home most weekends.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, building, maintaining, or deploying electromechanical systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
- Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and controls-related issues
- Experience working with motors, sensors, actuators, drives, pneumatics, conveyors, robotics, industrial automation, CNC equipment, AGVs, AMRs, or similar systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment
- Strong communication skills and customer-facing professionalism
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of problems
- Willingness to learn new technologies and operate in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
