BigHat Biosciences is seeking a Research Associate II for Production to support its high-throughput, automated platform for antibody production and molecular characterization. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with operational excellence in a dynamic biotech startup environment.
Key responsibilities include performing automated and manual high-throughput processing (DNA preparation, protein expression, protein characterization), scaling production-grade data generation, and supporting the Platform Reagents & Assay Support function through in-house reagent manufacturing. You will execute experiments to optimize platform performance efficiency, maintain detailed experimental records using BigHat's documentation tools, and collaborate on creating laboratory standard operating procedures.
The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional team members to identify, design, and implement process improvements to production workflows and laboratory systems. You will operate automated liquid handlers and analytical instruments to ensure efficient lab and platform operations.
Required qualifications: BS in Biology or Chemistry with 1+ years of industry experience. Demonstrated expertise in process execution, laboratory method development, optimization, and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with or strong interest in automated liquid handlers (Hamilton, OpenTrons, Tecan, Agilent systems). Solid foundation in molecular biology techniques and general lab practices. Strong time management and ability to juggle multiple projects in a startup environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a multidisciplinary team. Meticulous record-keeping abilities.
