Salary: USD 180,000 - 202,500 / annual
Discord is seeking a Regional Security Manager for the Bay Area to lead and grow the company's office security program. This role manages Discord's contract security officer team, oversees day-to-day operations and long-term security projects for the San Francisco headquarters and European office locations, and reports to the Senior Manager of Corporate Security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the security officer team and ensuring high service standards
- Serving as the in-office security representative, handling employee questions, visitor engagement, event security, investigations, and training
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for facility protection and personnel management
- Acting as incident response coordinator, leading annual exercises and creating training scenarios
- Defining and managing KPIs/SLAs for security vendors, conducting audits and driving improvements
- Monitoring and maintaining security systems (VMS, ACS, controls, subsystems) with preemptive health checks
- Planning and building out security technical architecture
- Cross-functional collaboration with IT, Workplace Services, and Facilities teams
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of physical security experience, particularly guard force management and corporate office security
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Project management expertise including RFPs, process improvement, and change management
- Vendor relationship management and budget/contract management experience
- Access control and video management system experience (Brivo, Genetech, HID, etc.)
- Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle emergencies
- Professional demeanor and discretion with confidential information
- On-call availability for critical incidents; occasional travel required
Bonus qualifications include ASIS certifications (CPP, APP, CTM, PSP), knowledge of California Bay Area law enforcement and regulatory requirements, startup/tech industry experience, and Discord platform familiarity.
The role requires 5 days per week in-office presence at San Francisco HQ. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance may be available.
