The Regional Access Director (RAD) is a first-line people leader responsible for managing a geographically dispersed Field Access Manager (FAM) team. This role leads all field reimbursement activities within the assigned region to achieve patient access objectives aligned with company vision, values, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as first-line manager for assigned Field Access Managers, providing direction, prioritization, coaching, and accountability for regional field execution
- Coordinate in-field activity to maximize market, segment, and team dynamics to drive results
- Conduct routine field visits, ride-alongs, coaching conversations, and performance reviews to reinforce compliant field behaviors and strengthen account planning
- Build and sustain a high-performing field-based team by identifying skill gaps, creating development plans, sharing best practices, and fostering engagement and continuous learning
- Establish individualized development plans for Field Access Managers with measurable goals and coaching priorities
- Maintain technical expertise regarding products, policies, and business-related issues
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and processes
- Partner with training, analytics, compliance, HUB operations, and cross-functional teams to equip the field team with necessary tools and resources
- Translate business priorities and regional access insights into coaching plans and team operating rhythms
- Exemplify cultural beliefs and high ethical standards; demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 12+ years in pharmaceutical industry with experience in payer policy and product access
- 7+ years of experience in benefit verifications and/or prior-authorization requirements or equivalent patient access experience
- 3+ years leading successful field access/reimbursement teams with responsibility for coaching, developing, and managing performance of field-based team members
- Detailed understanding of both pharmacy and medical benefit product models
- Knowledge of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policies and processes with experience in Medicare Parts B & D coverage
- Knowledge and understanding of specialty markets, HUB/reimbursement services, and patient access programs
- Strong analytical skills to assess market dynamics, competitor activity, and continuous diabetes monitoring trends
- Ability to gather and interpret data to guide regional strategy
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and videoconferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, GoTo Meeting)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare degree (MS, RN, PA, PharmD, or similar advanced healthcare/scientific degree)
- Advanced degree
- Pediatric Endocrinology and/or Endocrinology experience
- Previous launch experience in Access/Reimbursement leadership role
- Previous experience in other biopharmaceutical functions (product marketing, managed care, field sales, case management, or large healthcare practice experience)
