Salary: USD 47,150 - 76,705 / annual

Johnson & Johnson is hiring an R&D Technician II for Shockwave Medical, located in Santa Clara, CA. Shockwave Medical develops Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) technology to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease using proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves. This role focuses on the development and commercialization of devices for peripheral, coronary, and heart valve disease treatment. In this position, you will use technical skills to support the development of innovative medical devices. You will participate on cross-functional development teams managing projects from concept through commercialization, primarily focusing on disposable device prototyping, fabrication, and testing. Key responsibilities include: - Generate functional prototypes from design concepts and support transfer of R&D product builds to manufacturing - Support product builds through all R&D project phases, providing feedback on assembly processes - Assist other technicians, assemblers, and engineers with procedures and product assembly - Assist engineers with product and process development and improvement - Perform testing to support design, process, and equipment validation - Prepare test samples (products, materials, solutions) for routine and qualification testing - Support the build and assembly of prototypes - Identify issues and assist in troubleshooting procedures and instruments - Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes - Work directly with R&D technicians and R&D engineers - Perform work under a microscope - Work in a clean room environment - Lift objects up to 25 lbs as needed Requirements: - High School Diploma with 2+ years' technician experience OR 3 years' other relevant hands-on medical device experience - Ability to perform work under a microscope - Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and laboratory practices - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities - Comfortable working in a clean room environment - Ability to communicate effectively - Experience with MS Office Preferred qualifications: - Experience with balloon catheter, hydrophilic coating, or other cardiovascular medical device development - Experience with test method execution - Skills in collaboration, communication, data analysis, execution focus, innovation, inventory control, laboratory experiments, laboratory operations, process orientation, product development, professional ethics, project administration, research and development, and sample testing
