Thorne is seeking an R&D Tech Ops Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional projects within the Technical Operations segment of the Research & Development organization. This role manages multiple workstreams from concept through launch using Thorne's Stage Gate process, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Key responsibilities include leading Technical Operations projects spanning production optimization, quality and compliance initiatives, cost savings, business continuity, technology transfers, core product growth, and line extensions. You will establish comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, risks, and deliverables while creating alignment and accountability across project teams.
You will work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Brand, Finance, Medical, Scientific, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, and other cross-functional partners, serving as the central point of coordination for Technical Operations initiatives. The role requires proactive risk identification and mitigation, accurate project documentation, and clear communication of project status to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Key duties include developing project plans and success measures, leading and coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project performance against milestones, facilitating decision-making discussions, and applying operational excellence methodologies to improve execution. You will build strong relationships across teams, maintain project governance rigor, and track outcomes and lessons learned to continuously improve future project execution.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on manufacturing knowledge with strong project leadership, operational excellence expertise, and the ability to translate complex technical and business requirements into clear, executable plans. Approximately 15% travel is required.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline; 5–10 years of professional experience including at least 3 years in a manufacturing or production-floor environment; at least 2 years leading and delivering projects in a manufacturing setting. Preferred: Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Analytics background.
