Virta Health is seeking an RCM Collections Lead Specialist to lead a team of Collections Specialists managing accounts receivable follow-up and denial resolution across the Tier 3 portfolio. This is a player-coach role combining team leadership with hands-on account management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Collections Specialists, setting daily priorities and ensuring adherence to follow-up cadences and documentation standards
- Directly manage a portion of the Tier 3 AR portfolio, including payer follow-up, denial resolution, and escalation calls
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex denials, payer disputes, and accounts requiring advanced review
- Track team-level AR aging and denial trends, reporting performance against KPIs and flagging systemic issues with data-supported recommendations
- Ensure consistent use of productivity scorecards, standardized templates, and auditable documentation practices
90-Day Expectations:
Days 1-30: Onboard into Virta's RCM platforms, understand Tier 3 portfolio structure and payer mix, meet team and identify coaching opportunities. Days 31-60: Establish productivity expectations and accountability systems, begin serving as escalation point, provide weekly performance summaries. Days 61-90: Identify high-risk AR patterns, develop targeted action plans, lead one team-level improvement initiative.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years healthcare Revenue Cycle Management with specialized focus on collections and AR follow-up
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or training billing specialists or contractors in RCM
- Advanced Excel proficiency (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, data cleaning) for complex reconciliation and audit
- Expert-level knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding, commercial/government payer timely filing policies, and claim adjudication
- Proficiency with EHRs (Athena or Candid Health preferred), clearinghouse platforms, payer portals, and CRM platforms like Salesforce
- Proven ability to manage both team workload and personal account portfolio simultaneously
