Relay is a cross-chain payments protocol serving 5+ million users across 85+ chains with $6+ billion in transaction volume. The Liquidity team is responsible for keeping liquidity reliable, competitively priced, capital-efficient, and within risk frameworks. You will be one of the first members of a newly formed Liquidity team, reporting to the Head of Liquidity. This is a high-ownership, production-facing role combining quantitative analysis, model development, and live operations—not research-only. Key responsibilities include: **Portfolio & Hedging:** Develop portfolio-management and inventory-allocation models across assets, chains, and venues. Create target positions, delta-hedging policies, exposure limits, and stress responses. Model capital requirements and connect decisions to realized P&L, capital usage, and risk outcomes. **Execution & Rebalancing:** Measure execution and rebalance costs across fees, slippage, timing, and price impact. Optimize route choice across bridges, CEXs, and alternative liquidity providers. Develop decision rules for rebalance confidence and provider enablement. **Pricing:** Develop client-pricing and fee models across routes, assets, chains, and market conditions. Design fixed-spread, dynamic-fee, and surge-pricing approaches. Evaluate pricing for new client requirements and define quantitative inputs for haircuts, seed limits, and asset onboarding. **Production & Operations:** Backtest and validate strategies with realistic costs and out-of-sample testing. Ship model logic with tests, versioned configuration, and observability. Define telemetry for position, flow, execution lifecycle, P&L, cost, and risk. Investigate live pricing anomalies and support incidents. Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotation. You will work agentic-first, using AI agents to accelerate research, analysis, coding, and testing while remaining accountable for methodology, risk, and production decisions. You'll explain complex trade-offs to engineering, operations, product, commercial, and leadership partners. **Requirements:** - 3–5+ years in quantitative development, quantitative research, trading, market making, portfolio management, risk, or equivalent applied quantitative work - Strong Python and SQL skills with engineering judgment to turn analysis into tested, maintainable production systems - Strong understanding of capital markets and market microstructure (liquidity, order books, execution costs, slippage, hedging, risk frameworks) - Experience evaluating models with realistic costs, incomplete data, changing regimes, and out-of-sample evidence - Track record translating ambiguous business/operational questions into measurable objectives, constraints, and decision rules - Ability to communicate model behavior, uncertainty, and risk clearly; operate autonomously within a defined risk framework **Nice to have:** - Crypto or blockchain industry experience (AMMs, bridges, CEXs, stablecoins, cross-chain liquidity) - Prior work in electronic trading, execution algorithms, market making, portfolio optimization, treasury, or prime brokerage - Experience building production pricing, risk, hedging, or trading systems with real-money consequences - Familiarity with simulation infrastructure, model monitoring, P&L attribution, experiment design, and production observability - TypeScript experience or track record working closely with backend engineers - Experience in production monitoring, incident response, and hands-on liquidity/trading operations
