Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to join its manufacturing operations team in Costa Mesa. This role is embedded within the manufacturing process and focuses on quality assurance, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include managing the Materials Review Board (MRB) process, leading containment and resolution of nonconforming materials, and coordinating with engineering teams on dispositions. You will review manufacturing work instructions, support inspectors with go/no-go decisions, and conduct root cause analysis on quality issues. The role requires active participation in data collection, trend analysis, and weekly reporting of MRB metrics to stakeholders.
Additional duties encompass creating and implementing inspection plans for incoming, in-process, and end-of-line inspections; training technicians and inspectors on execution; developing quality assurance policies and procedures; and performing internal audits. You will manage vendor return material authorizations (RMA), investigate traceability issues, and stay current with inspection technologies and techniques.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of manufacturing and quality/engineering experience, proficiency with CAD software and inspection data management systems, and hands-on experience with calibrated measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arm). You must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, analyze inspection results, and communicate effectively across production, manufacturing engineering, and quality departments. Experience with quality management standards (AS9100, ISO9001, IATF 16949) and investigative equipment (X-ray, digital characterization) is required. A U.S. TS/SCI security clearance is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include a technical or associate degree in quality/mechanical/aerospace engineering, First Article Inspection experience, and ASQ certifications (CQE, QIA) or IPC-A-610.
