Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to join their manufacturing operations team in Costa Mesa. This role is central to ensuring product quality and compliance across Anduril's advanced defense systems.
You will manage the Materials Review Board (MRB) process, embedding yourself within the manufacturing environment to resolve nonconforming materials and drive continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include leading containment efforts for defective items, conducting root cause analysis, and coordinating with engineering teams on nonconformance dispositions. You'll create and execute inspection plans for incoming materials, in-process steps, and final assembly, training technicians and inspectors on proper procedures and data capture.
Your work will span quality assurance policy development, internal audits, vendor return material authorization (RMA) management, and deep-dive data analysis to identify trends and process variations. You'll communicate quality metrics and performance issues to stakeholders weekly, propose continuous improvement initiatives, and stay current with emerging inspection technologies.
Required qualifications include an Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field, 5+ years in manufacturing or quality/engineering roles, and hands-on experience with calibrated measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arms). You must be proficient in CAD software, inspection data management systems, and able to read engineering drawings and wire diagrams. Experience with quality management standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949) is essential, as is familiarity with investigative equipment such as X-ray inspection and material compliance verification. A U.S. TS/SCI security clearance is required.
Preferred experience includes a technical degree in quality, mechanical, or aerospace engineering; First Article Inspection and Report (FAIR) execution; and ASQ certifications (CQE, QIA) or IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620).
