Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Quality Specialist to join its manufacturing operations team in Costa Mesa. The role is embedded within the manufacturing process and focuses on quality assurance, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include managing the Materials Review Board (MRB) process, conducting root cause analysis on nonconforming materials, and leading containment efforts. You will review manufacturing work instructions, support inspectors with go/no-go decisions, and manage internal triage with engineering teams to resolve quality issues. The role involves creating and executing inspection plans for incoming material, in-process steps, and end-of-line inspection, as well as training technicians and inspectors on inspection procedures and data capture.
Additional duties include tracking and reporting MRB metrics weekly, managing vendor return material authorizations (RMA), performing internal audits on processes, and conducting deep-dive data and traceability investigations to identify trends and process variations. You will communicate process performance and quality issues to stakeholders, propose continuous improvement projects, and stay current with new inspection technologies and techniques.
Required qualifications include an Associate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, 5+ years in manufacturing and/or quality/engineering roles, and proficiency with CAD software and inspection data management systems. Experience with calibrated equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arm), reading engineering drawings, and working in facilities with AS9100, ISO9001, or IATF 16949 standards is essential. You must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include a technical or Associate degree in quality/mechanical/aerospace engineering, direct experience with First Article Inspection and Report (FAIR), and ASQ certifications (Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate) or IPC certifications (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620).
