Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to join its manufacturing operations team in Santa Ana. This role is embedded within the manufacturing process and is responsible for quality assurance, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include managing the Materials Review Board (MRB) process, conducting root cause analysis on nonconforming materials, and leading containment efforts. You will review manufacturing work instructions, support inspectors with go/no-go decisions, and manage internal triage with engineering teams to resolve quality issues. The role requires creating and executing inspection plans for incoming material, in-process steps, and end-of-line inspection, as well as training technicians and inspectors on inspection procedures and data capture.
You will track and report MRB metrics weekly, manage vendor return material authorizations (RMA), and perform internal audits on processes and procedures. The position involves deep-dive data analysis to identify trends and variations impacting process effectiveness and product quality. You'll also stay current with inspection technologies and recommend process improvements.
Required qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, 5+ years in manufacturing and/or quality/engineering roles, and proficiency with CAD software and inspection data management systems. You must have hands-on experience with calibrated equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arm), ability to read engineering drawings, and experience in facilities with AS9100, ISO9001, or IATF 16949 standards. A U.S. TS/SCI security clearance is required.
Preferred qualifications include a technical or associate degree in quality/mechanical/aerospace engineering, direct experience with First Article Inspection and Report (FAIR), and ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer or Quality Improvement Associate.
