Salary: USD 130,000 - 160,000 / annual
Atoms is building Physical AI—real-world robots for industries including food, mining, and transport. The company integrates hardware, software, AI, operations, and manufacturing to deploy autonomous systems at scale.
As Quality Manager, you will own day-to-day quality operations as Atoms scales its autonomous vehicle fleet from prototype to serial production. This is a hands-on role spanning PCBA production, compute box assembly, and vehicle upfitting across in-house facilities and contract manufacturers.
Key responsibilities:
- Run release gates for boards, box assembly, and vehicle upfitting; no unit ships without passing your checks
- Execute incoming, in-process, and final inspection against defined standards
- Track quality metrics (FPY, defect rate, rework hours) and report weekly
- Drive root-cause analysis on failures using 8D and 5-Why methodologies; verify corrective actions stick
- Manage quality issues with suppliers and contract manufacturers: containment, rejections, supplier corrective action requests (SCARs)
- Maintain quality documentation: checklists, control plans, inspection records, traceability
- Train technicians on workmanship standards and inspection criteria
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years in quality roles for complex hardware (automotive, AV, EV, aerospace, robotics, or similar)
- Hands-on inspection and floor experience; comfortable in a production environment, not just audits and presentations
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, GD&T basics, and standard root-cause analysis tools
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and holding suppliers accountable
- Startup mindset: builds processes while running them, comfortable without an existing playbook
This is a full-time, in-office role based in San Francisco. The company operates on-site five days per week.
