As Quality Engineer, you will own quality assurance and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include conducting incoming material, in-process, and final article inspections to verify adherence to quality standards; authoring and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and inspection checklists; executing the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process including root cause analysis and coordinating corrective and preventive actions (CAPA/SCAR); and leading Engineering Feedback Meetings to communicate floor findings and drive cross-departmental process improvements.
You will analyze RMA and scrap data to identify critical failure trends, manage supplier performance by tracking corrective actions and coordinating audits, and partner with engineering during New Product Introduction (NPI) to develop inspection plans and ensure production readiness. This role requires strong technical foundation in quality systems, ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, and hands-on experience with precision measurement tools and manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining.
The position is based in Waterloo, Ontario, requiring in-office presence at least four days per week, with occasional travel to local suppliers or partners. Ideal candidates hold post-secondary education in Quality Systems or Mechanical Engineering, have proven experience with CAPA/SCAR methodologies and root-cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), and are proficient with precision quality tools (calipers, height gauges, micrometers). Lean Six Sigma certification and ISO 9001 experience are valued but not required.
