Orbit Fab is building the foundational infrastructure for an in-space economy through Gas Stations in Space™ and RAFTI™ refueling technology. The company has successfully launched three tankers to space since 2018 and operates offices in the US and UK.
As a Quality Engineer, you will ensure the quality and reliability of Orbit Fab's spacecraft components and systems. Working within the operations group, you'll define and improve quality processes, drive non-conformance resolution, and collaborate with development and test teams to solve complex technical challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to create comprehensive quality plans for flight products, including identification of critical characteristics, development testing for functionality and manufacturability, and incorporation of lessons learned from past failures
- Enhance supplier quality assurance and incoming receiving inspection processes; conduct component first article and detailed inspections; lead the Material Review Board (MRB) process
- Implement standards, tools, and methods to ensure quality process effectiveness and sustain performance improvements
- Review designs and work instructions to identify and mitigate manufacturability and inspection challenges
- Research and interpret aerospace regulations and requirements to ensure compliance with external standards
- Participate in technical operations and provide guidance as an additional technical engineering resource
- Support manufacturing compliance with customer and internal specifications to meet contractual and mission requirements
