Divergent 3D is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their manufacturing operations team in Torrance, California. The company builds advanced systems for demanding industries including automotive OEMs and aerospace/defense customers, operating as a Tier 1 supplier with an integrated engineering and manufacturing platform.
In this role, you will lead quality control initiatives and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. Key responsibilities include:
**Process Improvement & Defect Reduction**: Analyze quality and production data to identify trends and root causes. Implement robust process controls, standardize inspection procedures, and improve first-pass yield through data-driven initiatives.
**Inspection & Quality Controls**: Optimize inspection strategies using advanced tools including CMM programming. Establish inspection criteria aligned with customer requirements and industry standards. Conduct capability studies such as Gage R&R and Cpk analyses.
**Customer Engagement**: Serve as quality liaison managing audits and addressing quality concerns. Prepare and deliver quality documentation including PPAP and FAIR. Collaborate with customers to clarify requirements and maintain alignment.
**Nonconformance Management**: Manage nonconformance activities including root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and Material Review Board processes. Track trends to drive targeted improvements.
**Data Analysis & Reporting**: Monitor KPIs such as yield and defect rates. Develop dashboards and reports providing real-time visibility into quality performance.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**: Work with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams on new product introductions and process validation. Mentor quality team members on best practices.
Required qualifications include demonstrated experience in quality initiatives, proficiency with PPAP, FMEA, and root cause analysis, knowledge of advanced inspection methods including CMM programming, strong analytical skills, and proven cross-functional collaboration abilities. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent quality experience is preferred.
