Voyager Technologies is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead site quality and mission assurance across multiple concurrent flight programs in San Diego. This role serves as the AS9100D Management Representative for the site Quality Management System, reporting to the General Manager.
Key responsibilities include owning and continuously improving the AS9100D and ISO 9001 Quality Management System while maintaining certification and audit readiness. You will serve as the primary quality authority and interface for external auditors, registrars, and customers including NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, and aerospace primes.
You will lead the Material Review Board and manage nonconformance (NCR), corrective action (CAR), and supplier corrective action (SCAR) workflows, driving disciplined root cause analysis on flight hardware. You'll develop and maintain program Mission Assurance and Quality Assurance Plans, enforce space-grade workmanship standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 Space Addendum, NASA-STD-8739), and review End Item Data Packages for full traceability and compliance.
The role includes managing the supplier quality program—supplier audits, source inspection, counterfeit-parts prevention (AS5553, AS6174), GIDEP screening, and government property control under FAR 52.245-1. You will lead, mentor, and develop the quality engineering and inspection team, allocate resources across programs, and drive continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methods.
Additional responsibilities include ensuring ITAR and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) compliance, and overseeing ESD, contamination, cleanroom, and EH&S controls supporting space-grade manufacturing.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering with 7 years of quality engineering or mission assurance experience (or Master's with 5 years, or 11 years without degree). Deep working knowledge of AS9100D and demonstrated experience navigating aerospace quality audits. Experience leading MRB activities, closed-loop root cause and corrective action (NCR, CAR, SCAR, 8D, 5-Why). Knowledge of space-grade workmanship standards. Experience with supplier quality management, source inspection, and PCBA manufacturing. Ability to interpret schematics, assembly drawings, specifications, and datasheets. 3 years leading high-performing technical quality and inspection teams of up to 10 personnel. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred: Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret clearance, ASQ certification (CMQ/OE or CQE), IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 Space Addendum certification, Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), familiarity with counterfeit-parts prevention, NADCAP special-process qualification, and configuration management.
