New Relic is seeking a QA Engineer to own testing of the Opportunity-to-Cash (O2C) and Enterprise Billing systems. You will join the BOBA Frameworks QA team embedded in the Finance engineering organization, acting as a quality gatekeeper for the financial systems that drive revenue accuracy and customer trust.
In this role, you will map complex data flows spanning Salesforce CPQ, middleware (Boomi), the Billing Platform, payment gateways (Braintree), and NetSuite ERP. You will execute comprehensive test strategies for the entire O2C lifecycle, from order creation in Salesforce CPQ through final journal entry in NetSuite.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end pipeline ownership: trace data payloads across the full O2C lifecycle and validate system integrations
- Complex billing lifecycle validation: test invoice generation, taxation (Avalara), proration, discounts, credits, tiered and usage-based pricing models, credit memos, and dunning workflows
- Test plan and coverage ownership: maintain structured test plans in Xray for all buying programs (PAYG, Savings Plan, Volume Plan) with full traceability from requirements to execution
- Payment gateway and ledger allocation testing: validate end-to-end payment flows through Braintree, including authorizations, settlements, partial refunds, and fund allocation
- Usage and consumption testing: simulate high-volume usage data, validate tier drawdown logic, and ensure overage calculations are precise
- Cross-system integration testing: perform robust testing across the financial tech stack, validating API payloads and investigating failed syncs
- Defect triage and root cause analysis: investigate system logs and provide developers with clear, actionable reproduction steps
- Cross-functional collaboration: act as a bridge between Engineering, Product, and Finance, translating complex revenue rules into foolproof test scenarios
Success in the first year means: by day 30, you have mapped the full Quote-to-Cash pipeline and taken ownership of the Xray test repository; by day 60, you independently execute QA for complete enterprise billing lifecycles and triage sync failures; by day 90, you are the QA gate for all cross-system financial deployments; by year-end, critical post-deployment data sync errors have dropped measurably and all active buying programs have standardized, tracked test coverage.
You are a system-level thinker who understands financial domino effects, a self-driven investigator who digs into logs and documentation, an exceptional communicator who can explain complex failures to both engineers and business stakeholders, and detail-obsessive under ambiguity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of QA experience with heavy focus on Quote-to-Cash / Order-to-Cash business processes; you understand the "why" behind financial transactions
- Hands-on experience configuring and testing quotes, product bundles, amendments, and contract renewals within Salesforce CPQ
- Proven experience testing complex billing systems such as BillingPlatform, Zuora, or similar financial engines
- Hands-on experience testing enterprise payment gateways (Braintree heavily preferred; Stripe or Adyen acceptable); deep functional understanding of payment lifecycles (Auth, Capture, Settle, Refund) and impact on AR balances
- Familiarity with provisioning and event-driven middleware (Boomi or equivalent); ability to read payload logs and identify where syncs break
- Proficiency in Jira for defect tracking and Agile workflows, with strong hands-on experience using Xray as a test management tool
- Familiarity with testing consumption-based pricing, tiered pricing, drawdown models, and metered billing logic
- Experience validating data transfers between systems using tools like Postman or middleware logs
- Familiarity with enterprise taxation calculation software like Avalara
