Relativity Space is building the Terran R reusable rocket to deliver payloads to orbit. The Engine Manufacturing department is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing rocket engines and vehicle hardware. As a Propulsion Components Test Specialist, you will play a critical role in the test operations team, supporting the transition from development engines to flight-ready hardware. Your primary responsibilities include building and commissioning new test assets and systems that incorporate fluid, mechanical, and electrical components to unlock new testing capabilities. You will author and optimize test sequences, procedures, and operational processes to support both first-article development and high-volume production phases. Safety is paramount—you will identify and mitigate hazards in a fast-paced test environment to ensure personnel safety. You will mentor and train production technicians on test equipment operation and best practices, helping to build a capable team. You will plan and execute test campaigns in close collaboration with the Engineering team to achieve Development, Qualification, and Acceptance test objectives. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of relevant technical experience, including authoring and executing test procedures, building complex fluid-mechanical systems, and operating hazardous equipment with multiple energy sources. You should be proficient with basic office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Slack) and demonstrate strong knowledge of safety standards and common test hazards. You must be detail-oriented, able to precisely plan activities and execute them with minimal deviations, and have a genuine desire to mentor less experienced team members. Nice-to-have qualifications include an Associate's degree or trade certifications in relevant disciplines (aviation/automotive mechanics), familiarity with industry test standards (SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540D, MIL-STD-810G), and knowledge of rocket engine components such as pumps, valves, regulators, and fluid system components. A hands-on, collaborative approach to both development and production phases is valued.
