Physical Intelligence is developing general-purpose AI to control robots for any task. The Prop Team manages the physical objects (props) that robots interact with during data collection and research. As Prop Team Shift Lead, you will direct an hourly, shift-based team and manage the operational flow of prop requests.
Key responsibilities include: directing the request queue and assigning incoming prop requests across shifts to meet service-level targets; managing recurring upkeep work including inventory management, staging stations, and labeling; leading and coaching a team across multiple shifts, including hiring, check-ins, and time-card management; auditing work quality and coordinating with operations leads and researchers; maintaining continuity across shifts by reviewing handover notes and setting priorities; and owning execution of the team's operational playbook.
You will occasionally step in hands-on when the team is short-staffed or requests are time-sensitive, but directing work and managing people is the primary focus. You'll vary your hours across the week (Monday–Friday) to check in with all shift teams and coordinate with the staffing vendor.
You should bring experience managing and motivating hourly, shift-based workforces; a detail-oriented, organized, high-ownership approach; clear communication skills for working with researchers and operations teams; and comfort directing work as your primary job. Experience with inventory management, staging, logistics, or physical operations is a nice-to-have. Candidates without formal people-management experience may be considered with an explicit development plan in place.
