Valar Atomics is building scalable, factory-made advanced nuclear systems to power industry, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is developing its first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah and is seeking a Project Manager to lead development execution for one of its first commercial projects.
This is a hands-on senior role responsible for managing complex capital projects from early site development through major investment and delivery readiness milestones. The Project Manager will own the integrated development schedule, coordinate across internal teams (Engineering, Licensing, Finance, Supply Chain, Delivery, Construction) and external partners, and support vendors through planning and construction handoff.
Key responsibilities include: developing and maintaining the integrated project schedule; running regular schedule updates, critical path reviews, and risk analysis; driving readiness for project gates (engineering, regulatory, customer, investment); owning the master milestone list and gate decision log; supporting engineering and vendor planning on scope, schedule, and commercial readiness; coordinating long-lead equipment planning; defining handoff documentation and decision packages; maintaining visibility into key items post-handoff; producing weekly status reports and monthly executive/quarterly board updates; maintaining the project risk register; partnering on cost estimating and earned value management; helping define the project controls function (tools, reporting, cost coding, change control, document control); and serving as a senior project development representative in Utah for stakeholder engagement.
Success requires owning complex development schedules and driving action when unclear or off-track; managing large capital projects without unnecessary bureaucracy; working across engineering, licensing, finance, construction, procurement, and external contractors; bringing structure to fast-moving projects before all processes exist; communicating clearly with executives, technical teams, contractors, and stakeholders; identifying and resolving project risks early; building repeatable practices for future sites; ensuring clean handoffs between development and delivery teams; and willingness to be hands-on across both Hawthorne and Utah locations.
