Precision for Medicine, a clinical research organization (CRO) specializing in oncology and rare diseases, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead complex global clinical trials and study portfolios. This is a fully remote position available to candidates in the UK, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, or Slovakia.
As Project Director, you will serve as the primary liaison with pharmaceutical and biotech clients, overseeing all aspects of clinical research trials from planning through execution and closure. You will manage project managers assigned to trials, develop comprehensive project plans with robust risk management, and ensure studies remain on budget and on schedule. Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as primary client contact, participating in proposals and client presentations
- Oversee all aspects of assigned clinical trials, ensuring consistency across portfolios
- Provide direction to project managers on project establishment, planning, initiation, procurement, execution, and closing
- Manage study budgets, scope, and change orders; drive profitability and accurate billing forecasts
- Develop and implement strategic project plans with proactive risk and change management
- Ensure quality management, eTMF inspection readiness, and corrective/preventative action implementation
- Establish tracking metrics and prepare status updates for clients and senior leadership
- Lead internal and client meetings, setting expectations and driving program-level strategies
- Oversee cross-functional project teams and ensure efficient trial execution
- Communicate protocol/study issues and deviations to sponsors and internal management
- Conduct formal presentations to colleagues, investigative staff, and clients, including bid defenses
- Implement and monitor study-specific training compliance
- Support business development and marketing activities; travel to bid defense meetings as required
- Mentor associate and senior project managers; provide performance feedback
- Participate in departmental updates and SOP development
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in clinical research and project management within the pharmaceutical/device industry, with strong leadership and communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in science or health-related field (advanced degree preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of clinical research experience
- Minimum 5 years of direct project management experience
- Highly experienced in pharmaceutical and/or device research
- Experience managing complex, global studies or study portfolios
Technical Skills:
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, eTMF, EDC, and CTMS
- Expert understanding of project management software
- Mastery knowledge of ICH-GCP and relevant SOPs
