Precision for Medicine, a clinical research organization (CRO) specializing in oncology and rare diseases, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead complex global clinical trials and trial portfolios. This is a fully remote position available to candidates in the UK, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, or Slovakia.
The Project Director represents a senior advancement on the project management career track and serves as the primary point-of-contact liaison with clients, ensuring outstanding customer service and participation in proposal activities and client presentations. You will oversee all aspects of clinical research trials, ensuring consistency across assigned portfolios, and provide strategic direction to project managers on trial establishment, planning, initiation, procurement, execution, and closing.
Key responsibilities include managing study budgets to ensure projects remain within scope, identifying out-of-scope activities early, and driving change orders to completion. You will manage the financial health of assigned studies, including oversight of project profitability, billable hours, and compliance with accurate billing and forecasting. You will develop or oversee robust project plans with comprehensive timelines, proactive risk management, and mitigation strategies. Quality management is critical—you will ensure eTMF inspection readiness, implement quality notification incident forms, and manage corrective and preventative action plans.
You will establish tracking metrics to monitor trial and team progress, prepare project status updates for clients and senior management with KPI reporting, and lead both internal and client meetings while setting expectations for the project team. You will oversee cross-functional project teams, communicate effectively with sponsors and internal management regarding protocol/study issues and deviations, and conduct formal presentations to colleagues, investigative staff, and clients, including bid defenses.
Additional responsibilities include implementing study-specific training in collaboration with functional areas, supporting business development and marketing activities (including travel to bid defense meetings), mentoring associate and senior project managers, providing ongoing feedback and annual performance reviews, identifying performance problems at the project level, and ensuring operational corrective actions. Travel domestically and internationally, including overnight stays, is required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a science or health-related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 8 years of clinical research or proven competencies for this position. Minimum 5 years of direct project management experience. Highly experienced in pharmaceutical and/or device research required. Experience managing highly complex and global studies or a portfolio of studies.
Technical Skills: Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, eTMF, EDC, and CTMS. Expert understanding of project management software.
Core Competencies: Mastery knowledge of ICH-GCP and relevant company SOPs with ability to implement. Excellent knowledge of project management techniques and tools. Highly experienced in cross-functional project management environments. Strong understanding of project planning, risk management, and change management with awareness of appropriate escalation. Demonstrated excellence in time management, negotiation, critical thinking, decision-making, analytical and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated excellence in presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. Highly developed customer orientation, influence, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
