Precision for Medicine, a clinical research organization (CRO) specializing in oncology and rare diseases, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead complex global clinical trials and study portfolios. This is a fully remote position available to candidates based in the UK, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, or Slovakia.
As Project Director, you will serve as the primary liaison with pharmaceutical and biotech clients, overseeing all aspects of clinical research trials from initiation through closure. You will manage cross-functional project teams, direct project managers, and ensure consistent execution across assigned study portfolios. Key responsibilities include:
• Serve as primary client contact, participating in proposals, presentations, and bid defenses
• Oversee all trial management aspects, ensuring consistency and quality across portfolios
• Provide strategic direction to project managers on study establishment, planning, procurement, execution, and closing
• Manage study budgets and financial health, including profitability tracking, billable hours, and accurate forecasting
• Develop comprehensive project plans with robust timelines, proactive risk management, and change management strategies
• Ensure quality management and eTMF inspection readiness; implement quality notifications and corrective/preventative action plans
• Establish tracking metrics and prepare status updates for clients and senior management, including KPI reporting
• Lead internal and client meetings, driving program-level strategies with the project team
• Oversee cross-functional teams and ensure efficient trial execution
• Communicate protocol/study issues and deviations to sponsors and internal management
• Conduct formal presentations to colleagues, investigative staff, and clients
• Implement and ensure compliance with study-specific training
• Support business development and marketing activities; travel to bid defense meetings as required
• Mentor associate and senior project managers; provide performance feedback and conduct annual reviews
• Participate in departmental updates and SOP development
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed
The role represents advancement on the project management career track and is critical to supporting senior leadership in process improvement and strategic company objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a science or health-related field (advanced degree preferred)
Experience:
• Minimum 8 years of clinical research experience or proven competencies for this position
• Minimum 5 years of direct project management experience
• Highly experienced in pharmaceutical and/or device research (required)
• Experience managing highly complex and global studies or a portfolio of studies
Technical Skills:
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Expert proficiency with Microsoft Project, eTMF, EDC, and CTMS
• Mastery knowledge of ICH-GCP and relevant company SOPs
• Expert understanding of project management software
