Wonderschool is the operating system for child care in America, partnering with state governments and large enterprises to run child care licensing, subsidy programs, and provider/family search on their platform. This Program Manager role owns the delivery of complex, high-stakes state and enterprise engagements.
You will be the central coordinator ensuring that commitments made to government and enterprise clients are delivered on time, on contract, and with full documentation. This is a hands-on role spanning project planning, client relationship management, and cross-functional coordination between clients, product, and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include: owning delivery plans and tracking milestones, UAT cycles, and acceptance criteria against statements of work; running weekly client cadences including status meetings, steering committees, and escalations with agency staff, legal, and state IT; maintaining dependency registers and holding both internal and client teams accountable to agreed dates; managing scope through capability traceability, acceptance criteria negotiation, and change control; producing risk reports for leadership across the portfolio; coordinating with engineering leads on integration timelines with state systems (ERP platforms, data hubs, SSO); and building repeatable program playbooks as the company scales to new states and enterprise clients.
You need 5+ years of program or project management on complex software delivery, with government or regulated-industry experience strongly preferred. You should have managed contractual milestones, UAT-based acceptance, and formal change control processes. Strong writing skills are essential—status reports, meeting summaries, and acceptance criteria will carry your name. You must be able to run plans that depend on teams you do not directly manage, on both sides of the client relationship. Experience with child care programs in state government (licensing, subsidy/CCAP, eligibility, provider systems) is strongly preferred; state human services, eligibility systems, or state procurement experience is a plus.
