Salary: EUR 72,990 - 91,260 / annual
Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Program Manager on the Global Professional Services team, you will drive complex projects focused on scaling governmental customer adoption of the Planet Platform and its data products.
You will work with cross-functional teams—both technical and non-technical—to define project methodology and strategy across a project portfolio. This role requires a keen interest in civil government and remote sensing applications, with a process-driven mindset focused on improving ways of working to scale development cycles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Professional Services Engineers, PreSales, Product Management, and other teams to design and deliver reliable platform and data solutions
- Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and success metrics
- Translating business and technical requirements into actionable deliverables
- Scoping and managing detailed project schedules; driving execution; proactively identifying and mitigating risks; tracking project costs and budget
- Delivering consistent project updates to customers and internal stakeholders on progress, adjustments, and strategy
- Designing and implementing processes for operational excellence and scalability
- Improving ways of working by monitoring business workflows and identifying inefficiencies
- Managing contracts with subcontractors, including task assignment, deliverable tracking, and budget management
- Measuring project performance and customer satisfaction to improve future delivery
This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the Berlin office. You will be part of a global team and should be excited to adapt quickly with a growth mindset.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6–8 years of relevant project management experience, including experience supporting proposal development for government or defense-sector customers
- Fluency in verbal and written German and English
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Experience with remote sensing, EO data, or imaging technologies
- Experience working with or as part of the civil government community
- Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects in a technical or product development setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to adjust tone and communication depending on audience
- Ability to independently manage competing priorities and adapt quickly in dynamic environments
- Continuous improvement mindset with ability to balance day-to-day responsibilities with forward-looking improvements
DESIRABLE:
- Understanding of platform development, platform integrations, or geospatial data-as-a-service offerings
- Ability to be proactive in initiating efforts to improve existing programs or develop new initiatives
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills
- Experience working with globally distributed teams
