ICEYE is seeking a Production Team Lead to own day-to-day manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing (MAIT) execution for spacecraft and optical payload production in Lisbon. This is a permanent, on-site role reporting to the Head of MAITE, Optics, within the Global Manufacturing Organization.
You will translate production plans and engineering requirements into safe, high-quality, efficient execution in an early-stage production environment where processes and teams are still being established and scaled. Key responsibilities include:
- Own daily MAIT execution for spacecraft manufacturing and optical payload integration, converting production plans into clear daily and weekly execution schedules
- Lead, mentor, and develop the production team, establishing clear roles, performance standards, and fostering a culture of ownership, safety, and continuous improvement
- Establish structured daily management routines including production meetings, visual management systems, and performance tracking to surface risks and deviations early
- Ensure operational production readiness by confirming trained personnel, materials, tooling, and cleanroom environments are prepared before new builds
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, standard work, Value Stream Mapping) to reduce waste and improve flow and productivity
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conformances
- Maintain accurate use of MES and ERP systems to monitor performance and identify improvements
- Serve as primary cross-functional contact with AIT Engineering, Quality, Planning, Logistics, and Manufacturing Engineering
Required qualifications: 5+ years in manufacturing, production, assembly, integration, testing, or operations with complex hardware; proven experience leading production or technical operations teams; professional experience in aerospace, space, aircraft, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing; experience supporting production ramp-up or new factory setup; expertise with structured daily performance management and Lean methodologies; experience in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments; strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills; excellent communication and stakeholder management with fluent English.
Nice-to-have: satellite assembly/integration/testing experience, optical payload integration, NPI/industrialization activities, PFMEA and control plans, close collaboration with engineering during new product introduction.
