Proxima Fusion, Europe's fastest-growing fusion company and a spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, is seeking a Production Planner to join its TechOps team in Munich. The company is developing next-generation stellarator fusion power plants (Alpha and Stellaris) backed by over €650M in funding, with teams across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford.
In this role, you will build and maintain medium- to long-term production plans that align engineering, procurement, and manufacturing operations. You'll translate project milestones into detailed, resourced, and executable manufacturing plans while performing capacity planning and balancing workloads across internal and external manufacturing resources. Key responsibilities include coordinating with Procurement & Logistics to optimize inventory availability, anticipating the impact of evolving engineering requirements and material constraints, and working closely with Manufacturing Engineering to incorporate process changes into production plans.
You will partner with Program Managers to align production priorities with program objectives, analyze production performance data to identify risks, and monitor planning-level metrics such as capacity utilization and lead times. Additionally, you'll support the design and implementation of production planning systems and processes, contributing to the selection and deployment of future ERP/MRP capabilities. As Proxima transitions from prototype manufacturing to industrial deployment, you'll help develop scalable production planning processes.
You should have a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in production planning, manufacturing operations, or supply chain within complex engineering environments (aerospace, fusion, automotive, energy, or high-tech manufacturing). Experience with production planning systems, MRP/ERP workflows, and manufacturing data management is essential. You think in terms of capacity, material flow, and constraints, and are comfortable modeling trade-offs before they become execution problems. You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments where priorities evolve quickly and planning decisions have direct impact on manufacturing execution. Strong communication skills across multidisciplinary teams, proactivity, attention to detail, and comfort working in evolving hardware development environments are critical.
