Astranis is seeking a Production Master Scheduler to own and lead the company's production schedule across all satellite programs. This role is central to Astranis's mission of building advanced satellites for high orbits; the company currently has five satellites on orbit, services over $1 billion in commercial contracts, and employs 450 engineers across its 153,000 sq. ft. Northern California headquarters.
As Production Master Scheduler, you will be the creator and owner of production schedules spanning thousands of line items, responsible for developing realistic yet aggressive plans that push operational limits while remaining achievable. You will gain buy-in from key stakeholders, work with company leadership and production resources to execute plans, and lead the Production Control function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain detailed resource-loaded schedules for multiple simultaneous satellite production and launch programs, including flight hardware, R&D hardware, tooling, and test equipment
- Work closely with production leadership and engineering program management to integrate schedules into end-to-end programmatic timelines
- Communicate clear targets and priorities for every piece of hardware to relevant production workcenters
- Steer a team of production coordinators in a matrix organization structure to ensure correct prioritization and on-time material movement
- Identify and report on critical path schedule issues, working with leadership to drive decisions on emergent risks
- Perform "what if" schedule modeling and analyses to support decision-making
- Create and maintain scheduling processes and tools to identify and act on constraints daily/weekly
- Collaborate with software and procurement teams on Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system implementation and data accuracy
- Communicate schedule status and changes across the business via reports, presentations, dashboards, and automated tools
The ideal candidate is an ultimate organizer who can filter complex schedules into simple targets, navigate under-constrained problems with large datasets, spot issues before they occur, and possess excellent communication skills. You must be able to walk into a room with many opinions and leave with one clear shared goal, with a passion for ruthless execution and improvement.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical discipline, or 5+ years of professional aerospace experience. 2+ years as an integrated master scheduler on medium-to-large projects (>2000 lines) with resource-loaded schedule creation.
Bonus qualifications: Smartsheet or MS Project experience, SQL query writing, custom dashboard creation (Grafana/Tableau/PowerBI), ERP/MRP software planning experience, aerospace engineering lifecycle understanding, spacecraft assembly/integration/test knowledge.
